Did you know that all children are musical? Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture
the musical growth of your child, regardless of your own musical ability?
Experience Music Together® and find out how important--and how fun--your role can be!
Music Together classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. We'll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so.
MIXED AGE Newborn-4 year olds
Central to the Music Together approach is that young children (yes! newborns-toddlers) learn best from the powerful role model of parents/caregivers who are actively making music. The program brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and by facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home within the context of daily life. By emphasizing actual music experiences rather than concepts about music, Music Together introduces children to the pleasure of making music instead of passively receiving it from CD’s, DVD's or TV.
All Music Together collections of songs, which changes every semester, include a mix of original songs and traditional tunes from the folk, jazz and world music traditions in a variety of tonalities and meters. By presenting a range of musical styles from lyrical to blues, from folk to boogie, Music Together provides children with a rich musical experience that stimulates and supports their growing musical skills and understanding.
Each semester, families receive two CD's, one for home and one for the car, along with an illustrated songbook full of music-making ideas. In addition, families new to the program receive a parent guide DVD and booklet, "Music Together at Home:Helping Your Child Grow Musically." We are committed to helping families discover the pleasure and educational value of informal music experiences beginning at the earliest possible age. Parent enjoyment is the single most important factor in fostering a love of music-making in children. Come Join Us! Go to our "Classes" page for schedule information.
